Public Forum on the Constitution: Suggested Contents for Poster and Program
Poster:
- Title and brief description (for example, "Our Constitution in Crisis: A public forum on [insert topic]")
- Date, Start Time-End Time, Location
- Moderator and Panelists
- Endorsers (individuals and groups)
- Wheelchair accessible? Sign-interpretation?
- Name of the group or coalition that organized the forum, contact telephone number and e-mail
Program:
Page one:
- Title, Date, Location
- Agenda, including some or all of the following:
- Welcome and Introduction
- Introduction of Panel (Consider asking a prominent community leader to moderate.)
- Featured Speakers names and titles (Involve people in your community that are knowledgeable of the constitutional violations that your coalition is taking on).
- Reading of the coalitions’ key demands
- Questions for panelists from the community
- Call to action and future plans to hold elected officials accountable
- Closing remarks
- (If you are videotaping) “This event is being videotaped for public distribution.”
Pages two and three:
- Text of the demands to which your coalition has agreed
Page four:
- Names and addresses of community's Representative and Senators.
- Link to www.constitutioncampaign.org and other relevant local links
- List the four main action steps of the PCC (see flier):
- Educate the community on constitutional violations and start dialog with diverse groups
- Build a local "Restore the Constitution" Coalition and define demands
- Convey demands to candidates and demonstrate widespread public support
- After election, reiterate demands and hold elected officials accountable to their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution
