Mar 15-30: Congress's District Work Period

May 24-Jun 1: Congress's District Work Period (Memorial Day)

Jun 28-Jul 6: Congress's District Work Period (Independence Day)

Aug 9-Sep 7: Congress's District Work Period (Labor Day)

August 25-28: Democratic National Convention, Denver, CO

September 1-4: Republican National Convention, Saint Paul, MN

November 4: Election Day

November 5: start of Transition period/Congress’s “lame duck” period

2009

January 20: Inauguration Day (end of transition and “lame duck” period)

December 31: Sunsets end on the following PATRIOT Act provisions:

• Section 215 business records
• Roving wiretaps
• “Lone wolf” surveillance
